What If

My husband and I love brainstorming stuff like this. Nifty idea for an alternate world setting. The basic premise is that the Oceans of the world are too dangerous to travel be it due to Mosasaur, Megaladon, Midgard Serpent, Kraken, Cthulhu... Whatever. If you venture out on the high seas, something’s going to get you. The only reliable paths open to human expansion has been via land or air. So this would mean that the colonization of the continents would only happen if there was a land bridge or the expanding nation developed air travel. Navel power houses like England, Spain or the Norse would not have the clout they did in our world and whoever invented air travel first would rule the skies. Rather cool set up for a steampunk-esque universe.

Sushi Night

Our cat is a little beggar who constantly paws at me for food off my plate. So I gave her some of my pickled ginger … I've never seen a cat do a spit take before.

Me the Cat and a Robot Named Jill

Because conversations with my husband while he's gaming apparently lead to coming up with what sounds like a great title for a silly sifi sitcom.

Apparently I can draw today. Normally my wildlife drawings are terrible but I'm actually happy with how this turned out. Sketch and final design for side by side comparison. Personally I like the sketch more.

I'm a Lion, RAWR

New logo. I needed to update my business cards for the Writers con in Surrey that's... yipe... less than a month away. Fingers crossed that the printed design looks as good on paper as it does on the screen.
It's going to be a busy couple of months coming up. I get to go back to Alberta to see all the changes my folks have made to the house, then the Writers con and then early X-mas in New Mexico. So much to do. So much to pack.

Sammich

My husband and I have the strangest conversations in the car. Also too much Portal of any sort causes fanart.

St Patty's Aftermath

My husband kilted up in his family tartan while I settled for wearing my most blatantly Celtic jewelry and a green cardigan. In retrospect I wish I’d brought my tartan shawl. My family on that side is Scottish rather than Irish but I could have used the extra warmth since the weather was cool and misty. We met up with friends played board games and spent an exorbitant amount of money of food and drinks over the course of six hours at a really good pub.
When we called it a night we decided to stop off at our local bakery on the way home to pick up a loaf of bread. The next morning, neither one of us where hung over, being sure to eat and drink water between rounds helps immensely, and I set about making French toast with blueberry/raspberry sauce for breakfast. Bakery bread has so much more going for it than the big brand stuff you find in a grocery store. Plus we have enough sauce left over for frozen yogurt topping.

SON OF A...

I am an idiot. I managed to overwrite all my notes for the elsewhere project with an older copy. A much, much older copy. Thankfully I recently printed out a hard copy but this means I have to re type  about 50+ pages of stuff.
I'm trying to keep a positive frame of mind on this. I really did need to go though and do a hard edit on this lot, and hell maybe my typing speed will go up a bit. Still, staring at this rather thick stack of paper in front of me makes me want to cry.

This answers so many questions

My husband and I were joking last night that so much of human evolution happened because of predators, lions in particular, that I had to make a T-shirt.
Why are we bi-pedal? To look for lions in tall grass.
Why are we visually inclined towards pattern recognition? To spot the lions
Why are we so attracted to fire? It keeps the lions away
Why do we tend to remember negative events? Because we remember when the Lions got Jerry. Now let's throw rocks at the grass in case of lions.

Tailor

Laryn's not big on Frau frau dresses but Julian went through all the trouble of making one just for her.

Best song ever!

David Tennant will always be my Doctor but Matt Smiths doing pretty well. Not everyone can pull of a fez/bow-tie combo and still look cool while saving the universe.

Productivity

Wow I got things done today. There's still a ton of things that need doing but I found my momentum and it feels great.
I worked on the elsewhere project some more. It really helps to have a clear idea of what a cultures architecture looks like to really solidify how a city is laid out.
Food got preped for the weekend without turning the kitchen into a disaster. Dinner got made before my husband got home and I even got in a bit of exercise.
I've been meaning to start doing yoga for a while, but I've never been flexible enough to do a lot of the poses correctly. Thankfully I've finally found a set of poses that are perfect for an absolute beginner like me. Once I get my flexibility up to par I'll be ready to move on to normal yoga.
I even managed to play portal2 for a while without making my self nauseous.

Cardigans and cable knit sweaters oh my!

I am a sucker for cardigans. Comfy and warm they're like a knitted hug and thankfully at the moment they are fashionable. The reason though may have more in common with the great depression rather than haute couture. The last time knitwear was so hugely popular was the 30's because it was more cost effective to make your own clothes. Guess that explains the 'do it yourself' attitude that’s becoming more and more popular.
Sadly I have neither the skill or patience to knit a full sized garment. I’ll stick with cooking mostly from scratch in a comfy cardigan.

In with the old out with the new....Wait what?

The holidays are over, massive amounts of baking have been accomplished, gifts have been given and the new year has begun. There's a lot to look forward too and a great deal I have to accomplish.
I'm going with my mom to the Writers conference in Surrey where I can hopefully get more feedback on a big project I'm working on.
Also hopefully in the not too distant future I'll acquire more stable employment. It'd be nice to be able to afford to take some life drawing classes again, I've gotten painfully rusty. Plus my husband and I both want to get back into larping. It'd be nice to be able to hang out with friends more often again especially now that I have plans for a slightly more combat intensive character. I'm really itching to learn how to spar with folks.
